March 25, 1940 – June 29, 2018
Mike Carpenter has passed away. He had a career in publishing that spanned numerous iconic magazines: Time/Life, People Magazine, Adweek and his own magazine, Independent Business.
Mike was an exuberant man, larger than life. A loving husband, devoted father, deeply involved grandfather, a reader, writer, golfer and stalwart friend, Mike’s passing leaves a terrible hole in our hearts. He loved unconditionally and lived fully.
Mike is survived by his wife of more than 50 years, Diane; his children, Bridget Carpenter and Chris Harrison, Brennan and Annemarie Carpenter, and Cathleen and Steve Mathes; and by his seven grandchildren, Ryan, Alida and Libby; Rita and Henry; and Gracie and Ellie—all of whom he loved and cherished.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the Mike Carpenter Family Scholarship at Loyola High School. Such donations may be made through the Loyola website loyolahs.edu.
