Palisadian Bill Hader is joining the cast of Hulu and Marvel’s upcoming adult animated series “M.O.D.O.K.,” which premieres this week.
The news was announced during Comic-Con’s WonderCon@Home in March, where the cast of the stop-motion series answered questions from fans and revealed a number of guest stars, including Hader as Angar the Screamer and The Leader, Jon Hamm as Iron Man, Nathan Fillion as Wonder Man, and former Palisadian Whoopi Goldberg as Poundcakes.
“Angar the Screamer … one of my favorite, obscure, D-list villains,” co-creator of the show Patton Oswalt said during the panel. “He’s so hilarious … oh, God, I was so happy to get [Hader] for that.”
The series stars Oswalt as M.O.D.O.K., Melissa Fumero as Melissa, Aimee Garcia as Jodie, Ben Schwartz as Lou and more. Other cast members include Wendi McLendon-Covey as Monica Rappaccini, Beck Bennett as Austin Van Der Sleet and Sam Richardson as Gary.
“The megalomaniacal supervillain M.O.D.O.K. has long pursued his dream of one day conquering the world,” according to a synopsis on Marvel’s website. “But after years of setbacks and failures fighting the Earth’s mightiest heroes, M.O.D.O.K. has run his evil organization A.I.M. into the ground. Ousted as A.I.M.’s leader, while also dealing with his crumbling marriage and family life, the Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing is set to confront his greatest challenge yet.”
“M.O.D.O.K.” was created by Oswalt and Jordan Blum, and the stop-motion animation for the series was created by Stoopid Buddy Stoodios.
“Can he rebuild A.I.M., fix his crumbling marriage, appease his teenage daughter and help his son prepare for his upcoming bar mitzvah?” asks Marvel’s website. “Those are just some of the many challenges M.O.D.O.K must conquer.”
All 10 episodes of Marvel’s “M.O.D.O.K” will premiere on Friday, May 21, only on Hulu. The series is rated R.
