On Sunday, Sept. 7 Marquez ElementarySchool welcomed more than 500 people to its lower yard for the 5th Annual Back to School Food Truck Festival.
In addition to fantastic food from Cousins Maine Lobster, Meat the Greek and more, attendees enjoyed performances by Palisades High School’s dance team and two sets of tunes from the Pali High marching band.
The air-conditioned game truck was a huge hit and a balloon artist inflated everyone’s school spirit. Demos and giveaways by CluckCluckApp – an app making it easier to communicate with babysitters and nannies – were part of the party as well.

“It was a lot of fun,” said Laura Salinas, Marquez Communications liaison. “It was a really good first kick-off to the school year. Families got to know each other and reconnect, and the kids had a really good time. It was a fun way to spend a sunny day in the Palisades.”
Many Marquez teachers were in attendance along with Principal Dr. Albert Hananel and his family.
The total amount of money raised has not yet been determined, but funds will go to help decrease class size and provide enrichment programs such as art, music and science, according to festival chair Amanda Keston.
