Marissa Williams continues to impress in her first cross country season at California. After placing 12th in her collegiate debut at the Roy Griak Invitational on Sept. 26 in Minneapolis, the Golden Bears freshman finished 17th in the Women’s 6K Red Division at Saturday’s Pre-NCAA Invitational in Louisville, KY.
Williams covered the 6,000 meters in 20:27.1, the second-fastest time among freshman behind Sharon Lokedi of Kansas (20:08.3), who was fourth overall in a field of 311 runners. Williams graduated from Palisades High in the spring after winning the Palisadian-Post Cup Award as the school’s outstanding senior athlete.
