
Marilyn ‘Denney’ Mead, a former 40-year resident of Pacific Palisades, died peacefully on April 12. She was 89. Denney grew up in Hollywood. In 1942, she married Dr. James F. Mead, to whom she was happily married for 45 years. She fondly recalled her long years as a Palisadian’raising her three children, being active in UCLA faculty events and serving as a docent at the Getty Villa. She also was a founding member of the ‘Nogoodniks,’ a social group famed for hosting festive themed gatherings. Predeceased by her husband James, Denney moved to Orange County in 1988 to be closer to her daughters. She later married Earl Raff and they enjoyed over 20 years of marriage together. Denney is survived by her daughters, Vickie Thomas of Newport Beach and Robin Kelso of Morrison, Colorado; son James Mead of Pacific Palisades; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A private family service is planned.
