Meryl Starr Brings Personal Organization to Pacific Palisades
By ANA ROBERTS | Intern
With an eye for aesthetics, Palisadian Meryl Starr is a personal organizer who helps “people organize their lives.”
Starr is originally from different parts of New York. Although moving to California was her long-standing dream, Starr never originally planned to leave upstate New York.
“I had my business, my family and my friends,” Starr said to the Palisadian-Post. “A couple of times I attempted to come here and it just wasn’t the right time. But this was the right time.”
Upon reflecting on her move to Pacific Palisades, Starr shared, “when you’re guided to go to a place … you know you’re in the right place.”
Starr was a complete stranger to the Palisades before she found an apartment listing online just over seven weeks ago. As soon as she saw the little home near El Medio Bluffs, she knew she had to have it.
“I knew right away … I said, ‘This is the apartment for me,’” Starr recalled.
She fell in love with the same charm that most Palisadians do: the ocean breeze, peaceful scenery and welcoming atmosphere of the community.
Now, Starr is working to “connect with [others’] individual energy and the energy of [their] home” to create an “organized, flowing space that will uplift … in all ways,” according to her website.
It is Starr’s job to help her clients clean, organize and uplift their home environments so that they can live happier lives.
People seem to find their paths in the most peculiar ways and unexpected places—Starr found her path in her own.

After organizing her friend’s kitchen one day, her friend’s husband commented on the “spectacular” job Starr had done and said she could charge for her services.
“This light bulb went off in my head and I said, ‘I’m going to start my own company,’” Starr shared, “If you have a dream, just do it.”
Starr channeled her experience and launched Let’s Get Organized.
“It didn’t exist, it wasn’t a career, it was nothing,” Starr recalled, as her 28-year business was a popular success from the very beginning. “The greatest gift I can give is helping people live better so they can feel better.
Starr has had the opportunity to write multiple books, be interviewed for numerous magazines, and appear on live television. Her popularity has garnered the attention of many people in need of not only home organization, but organization in life too.
She said the first step in a client’s personal organization is to discover what is contributing negative energy in a home. The most obvious sign of negative energy within a living space is unnecessary clutter, according to Starr.
“It’s important to not have any clutter in your life … so when we get rid of all the things that are unnecessary or the things that don’t make us feel fabulous, we’re free to live our lives and that’s what I teach people to do,” Starr said to the Post.
Starr advises others to follow their gut and allow their intuition to lead the way to a happier life. In order to begin reorganization in her client’s homes, Starr said she must evaluate the energy she is surrounded by.
“I can walk into a space where … I can tell from the energy that it’s either sticky, uncomfortable or just doesn’t feel good,” she said.
This feeling then allows her to figure out what sort of clutter is necessary and what clutter is not. Organization is simple once there are fewer pieces to organize.
Starr’s clients have been more than pleased by her help in their homes. One client, Mimi, was struck by Starr’s dedication to her work as she “rolled up her sleeves and did the work with me.”
Another client, Nerissa, shared the same sentiments that “with [Starr] you have strategic expertise, hands on help and a supportive partner.”
“I’m very grateful for all I’ve been able to do,” Starr concluded. “And now I get to continue my work in the sunny, gorgeous Pacific Palisades of California.”
