
Leonard B. Csiszar passed away on November 17 at the age of 88, surrounded by his family.
The longtime resident of Pacific Palisades was born February 16, 1934, in Lincoln Park, Michigan, where he lettered in football, baseball and basketball and was selected as the athlete of his class at Lincoln Park High School. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Business degree in management from the University of Michigan before playing baseball for the United States Army while stationed in Stuttgart, Germany, ultimately receiving an honorable discharge.
Len met his wife Marie while they both worked at IBM in Santa Monica. They married in 1962 and spent 60 years together. He had a long career in the securities business, starting as a registered representative in December 1961 and working his way up to branch manager in Beverly Hills and then vice-president/branch manager in the Santa Monica PaineWebber office.
Volunteerism was important to Len, who served on the board of the Big Ten Club of Los Angeles and as president pro tem of the University of Michigan Alumni Club of Los Angeles. He coached baseball for 12 years at the Pacific Palisades Recreation Center, where he became commissioner of baseball, and he would throw epic July 4th breakfasts in Pacific Palisades for 10K runners as part of the city’s annual holiday festivities. As a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, he served five years with the Finance Committee and 14 years with the Senior Group, including a four-year term as president.
Len is survived by his wife Marie, his three sons, Jeff (Veronica), James (Tess), and John (Ligaya), two step-grandsons, Alvin and Angelo, two grandchildren, Katherine and Patrick, and one great-grandchild, Maev.
Funeral services will be held on December 12 at 9 a.m. at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, located at 880 Toyopa Drive. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Corpus Christi Church, School or the charity of your choice.
