Los Angeles Department of Water and Power reported an outage occurred on Friday, October 27, at 12:08 a.m., affecting customers in Pacific Palisades.
“Multiple crews are working to restore power,” according to LADWP Senior Public Relations Specialist Deborah Hong. “The outage is located in our underground system, which takes time to isolate and repair.”
According to an outage map on the LADWP website, nearly 1,700 customers in the Palisades were affected.
Two pole-tip distributing stations that were also affected had since been restored, Hong reported.
“When there is an outage to an overhead power line,” Hong explained, “it is easier to see the area in question and start repairs immediately. With underground failures, crews must search numerous vaults to find the fault, isolate the work, then start repairs.”
The LADWP website listed Estimated Restore Times for different areas between 2:30 and 7 p.m.
