A couple weeks ago, I went with my friend Carys to see the movie “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.” J.K. Rowling magically takes you back to New York City, 1926. A wizard named Newt Scamander arrives from London with a mysterious suitcase filled with wondrous creatures. A mishap occurs when Newt switches suitcases by accident and the beasts are unleashed all over the city. He and his new friends set out to find them.

The chase takes Newt and his magical friends all over New York. The special effects were realistic and the movie had a number of unexpected twists. When you guess something will happen in the movie, your guess is probably wrong. The costumes and scenery were authentic and old-fashioned. I thought New York was an appropriate setting because it has lots of people from all over the world. You never know what they are thinking or what tricks they have up their sleeves. “Fantastic Beasts” will make you never look at New Yorkers the same again.
Overall, I thought the movie was great and people should definitely watch it, although it could be a little confusing to some who have not yet read Harry Potter or seen the other movies. It is one of the best movies I have seen this year. The movie is rated PG-13, but I am 10 years old and thought it was fine. Some parts are mildly scary, so I would not recommend it to anyone under eight.
I hope you enjoy the film, and watch out for Nifflers!
