James Keefe is enjoying a fine junior season on the men’s basketball team at Stanford University. The 6-foot-9 forward has seen action in 10 of the Cardinals’ first 12 games, including five starts, and is averaging 3.1 points and 3.6 rebounds in 15.9 minutes a game. He also has five assists, one steal and three blocks as the team is off to an 8-4 start (1-1 in Pac-12 Conference).
Keefe appeared in 30 games off the bench as a freshman, averaging 2.0 points and 2.0 rebounds per game, including a career-high nine points against Arizona State. He played in 24 games as a sophomore, scoring eight points against Indiana in the Maui Invitational and making the Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll.
His father Adam was an All-American at Stanford, graduating as the program’s career rebounding leader, and spent nine years in the NBA. His mother Kristin was a four-time All-American in volleyball at Stanford (1988-1992) and was a member of the 1996 U.S. Olympic Team in Atlanta. His older sisters Michaela and Caitlin played volleyball at Stanford and his younger sister Kerry led Marymount High’s volleyball team to the state title in the fall and is committed to Duke.
