Santa Monica Canyon artist Judith Carr has donated her painting, “Bird of Paradise,” to Wells Bring Hope for its fifth anniversary gala from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, September 29 at the Brentwood home of former Los Angeles County District Attorney Gil Garcetti.
Wells Bring Hope’s mission, to drill wells that bring safe water to rural villages in Niger, East Africa, was inspired by a presentation Garcetti gave showing powerful photographs of the plight of the women and children in one of the poorest countries in the world. Since then, the organization, founded by Barbara Goldberg, has funded 202 wells.
Mayor Eric Garcetti will present this year’s award to Kareem Ahmed for his philanthropic work.
The evening will feature delicious food, live music and an auction of exciting vacation getaways, art, fine dining and entertainment.
