Jack Coulter

John G. “Jack” Coulter was born on October 25, 1932 in Council Bluffs, Iowa to Mabel and John Coulter, and passed away on March 31, 2016.

Jack grew up in Compton, California and attended Abraham Lincoln Grammar, Roosevelt Jr. H.S. and Compton H.S. Jack joined ROTC while attending Compton J.C., where he was a member of Beta Phi Fraternity and served in the army during the Korean Conflict. He attended Colorado School of Mines and U.S.C., where he earned a B.S. and M.B.A. He joined the Kappa Sigma Fraternity at U.S.C. in 1952.

Jack wed his first wife, Judy Kircher, in 1957 and had three children, Wendy, Jami and Chris.  They lived in Pasadena, Newport Beach and Pacific Palisades. Jack loved playing paddle tennis at the Bel Air Bay Club, where he served on the Board of Directors. Jack traveled the world for work and pleasure, amassed a notable antique book collection on English Tort Law and loved sailing, skiing, fishing, the La Gruella Hunting Club in Mexico and his Palm Desert condo.

Jack was a real estate developer and entrepreneur. Throughout his successful career, he served as C.E.O/President of Barclay, Hollander, Corp. (Castle & Cooke) and Carlsberg Construction and worked for EF Hutton & Co., Dole Foods and Towne Realty of Wisconsin. He ultimately formed his own companies including The Coulter Group, Southwest Environments and County Builder.

He had an affinity for history and the arts and was intellectually curious and driven. He was a member of the U.S.C. Alumni Assn. and the Kappa Sigma Alumni Assn., and was a guest lecturer at U.S.C., U.C.L.A and Pepperdine.

Jack had a worldwide extended family of exchange students and friends from around the world, introducing them into American lifestyle and business. He was a member of Young President’s Organization (YPO), Chief Executives’ Organization (CEO), Riviera Country Club, Balboa Yacht Club, Lido Isle Yacht Club, Jonathan Club, Board of Counselors at USC and Pasadena Tournament of Roses.
Jack moved back to Newport Beach in 1989 and in 1999 married Nathalie de Wit. They had three children: Ghislaine, Jodie and Tini and lived together in Sacramento, Colorado Springs and Boston. Jack loved being a father and took great pride in his children.
