Marquez Charter Elementary School welcomed new families by hosting a TK/Kinder play date on Tuesday, August 11 at the Temescal Park Playground.

Families and incoming young students connected over frozen treats while the kids burned off energy at the playground, with school representatives, STAR staff members, FOM and New Family welcome chairpersons on hand to answer questions and familiarize themselves with the new students.

“We are thrilled to be able to kick off the school year with a Popsicle Social. The start of TK/Kindergarten is a big step in a child’s life and making them feel comfortable in the Marquez community is a lot easier when we have great events like this,” said Friends of Marquez board chair Joyce Wong Kup.
