Paul Davis has coached youth basketball in the Palisades for a decade and the former Palisades High graduate and 2007 varsity team captain now runs “Program Humble,” a successful 13U squad full of players in the community. The program’s 11U Black team is currently ranked 10th in Southern California after going 5-0 at the AAU Regionals two weeks ago and qualifying for Nationals in Orlando, Florida in July.
The squad donated its trophy from that tournament to Palisades Recreation Center Director Erich Haas, who has allowed the team to practice and train there for over five years and now it is thriving.
Program Hustle teams consist of players who attend Palisades and Marquez elementary schools as well as Village School, Seven Arrows, Corpus Christi and Paul Revere Middle School, mixed in with scholarship student-athletes from all over the inner city.
The program is open to boys and girls ages 7-14 and offers various indoor and outdoor coaching, training, clinics and camps.
Program Humble is holding a week-long Summer Camp June 10-14. To sign-up, call Davis at 310-422-3397.
