Excited chatter filled each room of the four houses featured in the 30th annual Home Tour hosted by the Pacific Palisades Woman’s Club (PPWC) on Sunday, Nov. 22.
Groups of visitors discussed their favorite aspects of the architecture and interior design of the homes, which included the majestic Villa Aurora on Paseo Miramar and three homes in Marquez Knolls.
The conversations continued on the shuttles, which transported attendees to each location.
Attending their first Home Tour, Highlands residents Steven Kaplan and Yuchu Evans chatted about their favorite so far, the house titled “Modern Magic,” on the shuttle ride to “Exotic Retreat.” After, a walk around that home, the couple decided they had a new favorite.

The event began at Palisades Charter High School where the Holiday Boutique was set up, hosting dozens of vendors selling various items, from scarves to chocolate bars. This year’s two-day boutique benefited both the PPWC and the Pali High Ed Fund.
There were all also a couple of food trucks parked in front of the school to satisfy any appetite worked up on the tour.
The tour attracted more than just Palisadians. Ellen Berman from Valencia attends the PPWC tour every year as well as similar tours in different cities.
“This is one of my favorites,” Berman said. “The beauty was all around, and they make you feel very welcome in all the homes.”
Berman also pointed out that the tour was well worth the cost of the ticket—$55.
PPWC president Haldis Toppel noted that the entire afternoon flowed without a hitch.
“It was absolutely fabulous,” Toppel told the Palisadian-Post.
Toppel also said she observed both volunteers and visitors being happy and appreciative throughout the day.
“It was Cathi Ruddy armed with her past experience who stepped in and organized the Home Tour with incredible attention to detail,” she said.
The generosity of the different homeowners to open their home for the day was also a highlight for Toppel, she said.
