Rarely does a home come on the market that is so steeped in architectural history yet so ideally suited for modern living. Designed by renowned architect Gerard Colcord in 1929, this French Tudor revival estate is situated on one of the best blocks in the Riviera. Taking its inspiration from the Normandy region in France, this spectacular home was featured in Architectural Digest in 1931 and has graced the pages of the Los Angeles Times and other publications.

With six bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms, the 4,976 square-foot home, which includes a guest house, sits on an expansive 20,877 square-foot all-flat lot. The sophisticated design evokes a rural French farm complex that is structured around a central courtyard with a seemingly never-ending lawn and beautiful rose bushes.

In 2006, the home underwent a thoughtful restoration to bring out Colcord’s trademark elements, such as exposed wood beams, hand-plastered walls, peg and groove floors, and large fireplace. At the same time, a sparkling pool and spa and an outdoor kitchen were added while the country kitchen was remodeled with marble counters, a Viking range, Sub-Zeros and a built-in desk. All the bathrooms were also updated while staying true to the style of the home. As light streams through the delicate, original windows, the home’s history is apparent in every detail, such as the reliefs in the walls and the gothic-arched doors.
