Ciela—located at 17310 West Vereda De La Montura in the Highlands—has delayed its opening day to November 27.
The “resort-style retirement community” was originally slated to welcome residents starting October 23.
“In 2017, we made a commitment to the city by gifting them three feet of land, which was an important step in our development,” Ciela Community Relations Director Annie Vardi said to the Palisadian-Post. “However, we are currently awaiting the completion and filing of the necessary documents related to this land transfer. This unforeseen delay in the administrative process has impacted our timeline, and we are working diligently to ensure that all legal and regulatory requirements are met before we can officially open our doors to the public.”
When open, Ciela will offer independent living, assisted living, memory care and short-term stays. The pet-friendly facility will have studio, as well as one- and two-bedroom spaces.
Included in the monthly rent will be a variety of services, including all food and beverage, housekeeping and laundry, transportation, and more.
Ciela will offer a number of living amenities and programming, according to its website. Residents can expect guest speakers and educators, a calendar of cultural programming, local excursions, arts, and entertainment.
“We genuinely value the support and interest of our community, and we assure you that we are doing everything within our power to expedite the necessary processes and open Ciela as soon as possible,” Vardi said. “We are committed to providing an exceptional experience for our customers, and we believe that this extra time will allow us to do just that.”
The Malibu-Pacific Palisades Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon-cutting and Sunset Mixer at the property at the beginning of October, as well as a breakfast event on October 25.
