
A freshman on the wrestling team at Cerritos College, Hamzah finished second at the California Community College Athletic Association state championships on Saturday in Fresno, losing to Fresno City’s Jack Kilner by one point in the 197-pound final—a match Alsaudi thought he won with a takedown in the last 10 seconds, but the officials overruled and Kilner held on. Hamzah led Cerritos to the Southern Regional title by decisioning Rio Hondo’s Andy Voong 4-3 in the final. Alsaudi was a three-time City champion at Palisades High and won the Palisadian-Post Cup Award in 2018 as the school’s outstanding senior athlete.
