Riviera resident Blake Griffin will be staying in Southern California after re-signing with the Los Angeles Clippers last Friday amid speculation he could leave after point guard Chris Paul was dealt to Houston days earlier.
Griffin, who has been the face of the franchise since being selected first overall in 2009, agreed to a five-year, $173 million deal.
The 28-year-old power forward is a five-time NBA All-Star and has played his entire career in the red, white and blue, averaging 21.5 points, 9.4 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game.
Griffin was scheduled to meet with Phoenix last Saturday, but he canceled after deciding to sign a long-term extension with LA.
Known for his thunder dunks, Griffin missed 45 games in 2015-16 due to injuries and a suspension and sat out 21 games last year. In April, he became the second player in Clippers history to reach 10,000 career points.
