Eleven Palisades High Players Earn Western League Baseball Recognition

Deservedly, the Palisades High baseball team was well-represented on the All-Western League team this spring. After all, Coach Mike Voelkel’s squad was perfect in league play on its way to a City Open Division playoff berth.
Palisades senior first baseman Kyle Grassl was named Co-Most Valuable Player along with Venice senior Isaiah Morales.
Seniors Nate Akiba and Jake Moore shared Pitcher of the Year honors. Joining them on the first team were Dolphins catchers Jabe Payne and Alex Denham, outfielders Ryan Johnson, Zach Greshman and Amari Yolas and designated hitter Vincent Langdon.
Making the second team were senior third baseman and pitcher Zach Ritts and junior outfielder Jake Herrera.
The first team first baseman is Cheyenne Arnold of Westchester, the first team second baseman is Damien Blake of Venice, the first team shortstop is Maki Morisaki of Westchester and the first team third baseman is Luke Bolanger of Venice. Also making the first team as an outfielder was Diego Amaya of Venice and the utility choice was Venice senior Drew Dizon. Other first team pitchers are LACES’ Ezra Bitterman, Holden Schmidt of Venice, Kanda Morisaki of Westchester and Hamilton’s Jacob Posner.
