The first league match of the season didn’t quite go according to plan for Palisades High’s boys golf team.
The Dolphins, who are chasing their fourth straight City title, lost by five strokes to Granada Hills, 196-201, last Thursday at Rancho Park.
Palisades’ No. 2 golfer Jason Simon was home ill and might have made a difference according to Coach James Paleno.
“He’s been shooting even par to +2 so we could’ve dropped one of those 42s,” Paleno said. “But others need to step up. We’ll be okay.”
Aaron Kramer shot a 37 to earn medalist honors for the Highlanders.
Ray Yang led the Dolphins with a 38, Grant Ebner shot a 39, Ethan Rautbort and Jeff Han fired 41s, Will Holbrow and Max Hagar carded 42s and Kaelen Nettleship shot a 45.
Palisades played Van Nuys yesterday at Woodley Lakes.
