The Palisades High golf team continued its remarkable season, following up a 10-0 regular season by winning the Western League tournament on Monday at Griffith Park’s Harding Golf Course by edging Granada Hills, 384-386.
With the win, the Dolphins shift their focus to City finals, which will be Monday at noon, also at Harding, and involve all of the teams that qualified from the Western League and entire City Section.
Sophomore Charlie Dillon and senior Kornelijus Baliukonis shot par 72 Monday and finished in a three-way tie for first with a Granada player, resulting in a “card off,” which Dillon won.
Junior Jake Schultz shot a 5-over 77, while freshman Max Hagar was fourth among the Dolphins with a 7-over 79. Senior Dylan Wenker shot an 84 and sophomore Michael Lerner shot 87.
For the season, Baliukonis was PaliHi’s top golfer, averaging 0.25 strokes above par, while Dillon was second with a 0.75 average. The perfect season is a major improvement for a team that finished fifth in the City Section last season.
