Girl Scout Troop 12815 spent the evening of Friday, November 8, making “T-bags” as part of an ocean conservation project that is focused on reducing plastic pollution. Scout Michaela Koski said that plastic “pollutes the ocean we swim in, animals swim in, and it washes on the shore where birds eat the plastic.” To combat the problem, the scouts cut and sewed Palisadian-Post t-shirts, transforming them into reusable shopping bags. The bags will be given to the community at no charge in exchange for a commitment to refrain from using plastic bags for a two-week period.
