Georgia Contompasis Cord, a 22-year resident of Pacific Palisades, passed away peacefully in her home on January 27, surrounded by her husband and two daughters. Born on July 3, 1962 in Schenectady, New York, Georgia graduated from Linton High School, where she excelled as a sprinter on the track team. She attended Otis Parsons School of Design, and became a highly regarded designer of Los Angeles fashion. She married Stephen Cord in 1990 and together they had two daughters, KC (now a sophomore at Dartmouth) and Lexi (now a junior at Marlborough School). The family belonged to Pacific Palisades Presbyterian Church. Georgia was a past president of The C.H.I.P.S. (a nonprofit that benefits abused and neglected children and their families), and an active member in the charitable organization The Colleagues. She saw beauty in everything she did and was a devoted wife and mother who touched the hearts of everyone around her. All who knew Georgia loved her for her creativity, great style and sincere kindness. She was truly one of a kind, and her family and friends, while devastated by her untimely passing, are equally grateful for having been a part of her life. Georgia was predeceased by her brother, Peter. She is survived by her loving husband Stephen; daughters KC and Lexi; her parents, Ernest K. and Catherine C. Contompasis; and sisters Marika (husband Tom Lopez), Barbara Carroll and Charles Contompasis (wife Laurie Ives). Georgia will be remembered by Stephen’s family, including grandmother-in-law Onnalee Doheny, father and mother-in-law Chris and Katrina Cord, and Stephen’s siblings Bill (Angela), Michael (Julie) and Cecelia Morton. A memorial service will be held Friday, February 1 at 11 a.m. at All Saints’ Episcopal Church, 504 N. Camden Dr. in Beverly Hills. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Angeles Clinic and Research Institute, 11818 Wilshire Blvd; Suite 200, Los Angeles, CA 90025, or The Lynne Cohen Foundation/Peony Project, P.O. Box 7128, Santa Monica, CA 90406.
