Palisades High varsity football coach Tim Hyde couldn’t have picked a better opponent to close out the nonleague portion of the schedule than the one the Dolphins will face Friday night.
The Dolphins (2-2) make their third trip to the San Fernando Valley to take on undefeated Chatsworth (4-0) – one of the top teams in the City Section Division II rankings.
The Chancellors are averaging nearly 55 points per game behind junior quarterback Tyger Goslin, who has thrown for 1,096 yards and 16 touchdowns and rushed for 401 yards and five scores. Daniel Kamulali (22 catches for 540 yards, six TDs) is Goslin’s primary target and pacing the ground attack is Tawan Funches (508 yards, eight TDs).
“Goslin reminds me of Niko Harris [at Sierra Canyon], he’s fantastic and the defensive line is the best we’ll have faced,” Hyde said. “They’re very well-coached, I see no weaknesses on film and it’ll be a great challenge.”
Quarterback P.J. Hurst has thrown for eight TDs in his last two games and Ryan Ashmore has 14 catches for 303 yards for the Dolphins.
The JV game kicks off at 4 p.m., followed by varsity at 7 at Chatworth High.
