Max Fields is never one to shy away from a challenge. The Palisades High junior was invited to test himself against the best prep distance runners in California last Saturday in the Meet of Champions at Azusa Pacific University and he placed 23rd in a field of 25 in the Invitational Boys 3200 meter varsity race in a time of 9:18.45. The defending City Section cross country and 3200 champion, Fields was the lone City entrant. Junior Carter Spradling from Clovis East won in 8:51.62, beating Palmdale Highland senior Matthew Donis by a little more than one second. Â
In the Invitational Boys frosh/soph 3200, sophomore Owen Lewicky was eighth in 9:34.84 while Dolphins teammate Blake Sigworth, a freshman, clocked 10:01.03 for 18th place out of 22 competitors. In the Seeded Boys frosh/soph 3200, Palisades freshman Andrew Razo was 13th in 10:05.93.
In the Rated Girls varsity 800 heat Pali High senior Ava Baak was sixth out of seven runners in 2:24.44. She was second in the City Division I cross country final in November.
