More than 1,000 Palisadians turned out for the third annual Eggstravaganza at the Palisades Recreation Center on Saturday, according to event organizer Susan McInerney.
Kids and their parents enjoyed the eggs-citing festivities, including bounce houses, face painting, a petting zoo, arts and crafts and, of course, an Easter egg hunt. The Easter Bunny made a grand entrance on the fire truck courtesy of Station 69.
Patrick Poon, a Highlands resident, was taking it all in with his two-year-old daughter Stella, who was decked out in an Easter Bunny dress. “She’s having so much fun and is excited to see the Easter Bunny,” Poon said.

Henry Edwards, who graduated from Palisades High in 1997, came with his daughter Nylah, 3. “She’s having a lot of fun seeing the animals in the petting zoo and wants to do the face painting,” Edwards said.
Organizer McInerney was thrilled with the turnout and expressed gratitude to the 25-plus volunteers from PaliHi and Paul Revere Middle School who helped with the event preparations. She also credited the Palisades Rec Center for providing the space and thanked director Erich Haas and his staff for all their assistance.
“We could not do this without the support and leadership of Erich Haas, the park director, and his enthusiastic staff,” McInerney said in an email to the Post. “They are amazing in their commitment to this community. The entire Park Board also lends a hand to steer this successful event. It is truly a team effort.”
The effort paid off. Millie Slow, a six-year-old at Palisades Elementary who was waiting patiently with little sister Izzy in line for the petting zoo, said, “This is so fun!”
