Edna Gyepes, a 43-year resident of Pacific Palisades, passed away on October 1 after a short illness. She was 73. She was born in Haifa, Israel, in 1938, and moved to the United States 10 years later. Gyepes met her husband Michael, a pediatric radiologist, in 1957, while she was a nursing student at UC San Francisco and he was a resident. They were married two years later on October 31. They moved to Pacific Palisades in 1967 and raised their family on Alcima Avenue. Their three children, David, Steven and Nancy, attended Marquez Elementary and Paul Revere Middle School and graduated from Palisades High School. Although Gyepes maintained her nursing license, she was a longtime Palisades realtor. Edna began her career with Louise Davies, then moved to Spring Realty, Fred Sands and finally, Jon Douglas, which was bought by Coldwell Banker. Her last sale was in 2011. Edna is survived by her husband Michael; her three children and their spouses: David (Shirley), Steven (Kendra), and Nancy Gilbert (Lloyd); and seven grandchildren: Adrianna, Sofia, Emily, Grace, Gabriella, Jacob and Sarah. The family would like to thank Edna’s many friends and neighbors for their loving, caring and thoughtful support during her illness. She will be missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Westside Food Bank, the Venice Family Clinic or one of the local Children’s Hospitals. Services will be today, October 6, at 2 p.m. at Hillside Memorial Park.
