The Pacific Palisades ranch of late actor and comedian Dom DeLuise recently sold for $6.49 million after hitting the market for the first time in over 50 years.
Built in the 1950’s, the corner lot property covers about a third of an acre outside the Riviera Country Club.
Described as “a wonderful home for entertaining,” the home features a backyard, pool, and a covered, tiled spa and gazebo.
The front entry leads guests to a large, formal living room on one side, a dining room on the other, and a classic family room complete with a wet bar and stone fireplace.
The chef’s kitchen has two stoves, a breakfast area and separate access to the bar next to the family room.
The 4,497-square-foot home also boasts three bedrooms, two baths with an office on one wing of the first floor, a maid’s room and bath, and a separate pool/ gameroom with a bath.
The private, second story bedroom suite overlooks the backyard and has a large closet.
The home sold in just 14 days. Matthew Ogden of Compass and Gayle Pritchett of Pritchett-Rapf held the listing. Anthony Marguleas of Amalfi Estates represented the buyer.
DeLuise was best known as a comic actor and the co-star of many Mel Brooks comedies, including “Blazing Saddles,” “Silent Movie,” “History of the World, Part I,” “Spaceballs” and “Robin Hood: Men in Tights.”
He served as grand marshal of the town’s Fourth of July parade in 1983, and, from 1984 through 1986, he was honorary mayor. DeLuise and his wife Carol raised their sons Peter, Michael and David in the Palisades, and they all have become actors.
In 2006, the Palisadian-Post asked DeLuise how he hoped to be remembered.
“They’re going to remember that I was round, that I was friendly, that I didn’t put anybody down when I did my jokes, and there was the smell of garlic in my home at all times,” he said.
