The Palisades High baseball team had a score to settle last Saturday at George Robert Field.
The Dolphins were held scoreless in their season opener at San Pedro and wanted to make amends in their last game of the El Segundo Tournament.
Mission accomplished. Remy Meteigner and Gabe Stewart each had two hits and two RBIs, Henry Coquillard had an RBI double and starting pitcher Augie Sylk had four strikeouts in three innings as Palisades pounded the Pirates 8-1 for its second straight victory.

Alex Weiner drew a bases-loaded walk, Josh Barzilai hit a sacrifice fly and another run scored on an error as the Dolphins improved to 4-3 entering Tuesday’s Western League opener at Venice.
“My mindset [on the mound] was to dominate and set the tempo early,” Sylk said. “It’s great to have some momentum heading into league and we’re so happy to get Venice first. It’s personal. They won last year but we’re coming in to this series with everything we’ve got.”
Two days earlier, Justin Hirchberg pitched a three-hitter with seven strikeouts for his second win of the season, a 3-2 triumph at Bellflower. Kiely Mizumoto’s squeeze bunt in the third scored two runs and Benji Taylor scored the decisive run on an error in the fourth for the Dolphins.

Palisades resumes league play at Venice today and begins Redondo Tournament action at 11 a.m. Saturday at West High in Torrance.
