A crowd of Palisades High School students and families gathered on Friday, Sept. 26 at Stadium by the Sea to participate in what is widely considered the most important football game of the year – the 9th Annual Charter Bowl.
Pali High’s ‘Football Fest’ included numerous food trucks, a photo booth, henna tattoos, a table of hair accessories and, of course, two football games versus Granada Hills – both of which Pali emerged victorious.
The Football Fest began with a junior varsity game at 4 p.m. At halftime, the score stood at 38-7, with Pali in the lead. The final score at the end of the match was 44-14, Pali beating Granada Hills by 30 points.
At 7 p.m., Ethan Erickson started off the varsity game with the first kickoff. The end of the first quarter brought with it a score tied at zero. The first touchdown was scored in the second quarter by Palisades quarterback PJ Hurst, who made three touchdowns total during the course of the game. At halftime, the score was 14-0 in Pali’s favor.
The halftime show included a performance by Pali’s marching band, followed by the cheer and dance teams. Another touchdown was scored during the third quarter and yet another in the fourth.
The final score of the varsity game was Pali High 28 and Granada Hills 0.
