After earning a share of the Western League title for the third time in four years, the
Palisades High football team was well-represented on the All-League team released Monday.
Junior tailback Max Palees was voted Offensive Player of the Year after running for a team-best 1,176 yards and nine touchdowns in 175 carries (an average of 6.7 yards per rush).
Senior Jack Stansell was chosen Defensive Lineman of the Year after making 51 tackles (16 for losses) with 5.5 sacks, three pass deflections, one caused fumble and one recovery.
Junior Tommy Meek was selected Punter of the Year with an average of 41.7 yards and a long of 55 yards.
Making the first team offense were 6-foot-5, 305-lb. sophomore tackle Nick Calcaterra, who had a team-high 66 pancake blocks, and 5-9, 235-lb. senior lineman Meshach Santos (33 pancakes).
Making the first team defense were three juniors: lineman Immanuel Newell (58 tackles); Sy Riley (who led the team with 110 tackles, 21.5 for losses, along with 3.5 sacks, two recovered fumbles and an interception); and fellow linebacker Noah Ghodooshim, who was second on the team in tackles (63) and sacks (4.5) and also had 18 catches for 244 yards and two touchdowns at tight end.
Also making the first team were senior defensive backs Jake Nadley and Will Janney, who led a Dolphins secondary responsible for 15 takeaways—13 interceptions, two fumble recoveries—and 26 pass deflections. Nadley had a team-high six interceptions and was also the leading receiver with 38 catches for 600 yards and six touchdowns while Janney had five picks (one for a score) and six deflections while catching 26 balls for 416 yards and five scores.
Sophomore quarterback Forrest Brock and linemen Justin Bahari and Obi Nwanonenyi made the second team offense while senior linemen David Pierre and T.J. Michel made the second team defense along with junior linebacker Joe White and junior defensive back Waka White.
