Palisades High beach volleyball coach Dane Selznick has high hopes for his boys team this season and Saturday’s results were much to his liking.
The varsity swept both of its Interscholastic Beach Volleyball League matches at Dockweiler Beach in Playa del Rey, beating Ocean Division rivals Viewpoint and Culver City by 3-0 scores.
“We had a 6-0 record for the day, but our biggest challenge will be Santa Monica next week,” Selznick said. “They’ve beaten us in our last two scrimmages.”
Meanwhile, at Zuma Beach, the junior varsity lost 3-0 to Marmonte Division rivals Santa Monica and Westlake before rebounding to sweep Foothill Tech by the same score.
The squad consists of Scott Stuart, Eros Surya, Marcus Partain, Vance Mallory, Shane Selznick, Akhil Tanguturs, Mason Mallory, Flaviano Withert, Drey Lubin, Zack May, Jason Wittbrodt, Riley Byington, Kai Padden, Danny Miller, Kobe Kanan, Felix Massey, Jim Taylor, Patrick Grace, Vecus Lewin, Column Yeh and Matt Mitchel.
This Saturday the varsity continues divisional play versus Santa Monica and Viewpoint while the JV takes on Simi Valley and Camarillo.
