The Distinguished Speaker Series, which is entering its fourth season at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills, will start its 2018-19 lineup with a presentation by American portrait photographer Annie Leibovitz on Sunday, Nov. 4, at 7 p.m.
Leibovitz, who has been taking powerful images documenting popular culture since the 1970s, started her career as a photojournalist for Rolling Stone. After 10 years, she moved on to Vanity Fair, where she created a body of work that encompasses “some of the best in known portraits of our time,” a press release stated.
Leibovitz will present a living history—taking audience members behind the scenes with photographs of influential and famous celebrities.
Each year, the series runs from November to May on six different Sunday evenings.
“We search the globe to find great speakers whose leadership, accomplishments and opinions make a real difference,” series co-owner Kathy Winterhalder explained in a press release. “Our goal is to present a compelling and bi-partisan style of educational entertainment to the community.”
Next up will be journalist Chris Wallace, followed by former FBI Director James Comey, author Jon Meacham, TV icon Alan Alda and Nat Geo’s Adventurer of the Year Paul Nicklen.
Palisadians may purchase subscription packages, which range from $260 to $475.
