The Pacific Palisades Democratic Club is hosting its annual meeting—open to all and featuring appearances by elected officials—on Sunday, January 31, between 2 and 3:30 p.m.
This year’s meeting is slated to feature U.S. Representative Ted Lieu, State Senator Ben Allen, Assemblymember Richard Bloom, LA County Supervisor Sheila Kuehl, LA City Councilmember Mike Bonin and LA Unified School Board Member Nick Melvoin.
“For everyone’s safety, this year’s gathering will take place on Zoom,” according to information shared by the club ahead of the meeting. “The elected will share their thoughts about priorities for 2021, followed by Q&A.”
The event serves as the PPDC’s “annual meeting,” at which the “2021 executive board candidate slate and proposed bylaw modifications will be up for ratification by all club members in good standing who are present”—though the club hosts events throughout the year and its board meets monthly.
PPDC Vice President of Communications Adam Wolman promises the meeting to be of “intense interest to the community on several fronts,” including Allen discussing how California will handle challenges created by the coronavirus pandemic and Bonin sharing how the city plans to cope with the economic effects of COVID-19.
The club includes more than 400 members.
“For major elections the club partners with other local organizations to host the Westside Democratic HQ, a one-stop shop for Get Out The Vote activities that is among the top-performing volunteer campaign centers in the country,” the release continues.
Admission to the annual meeting will be free for those who wish to attend, with a suggested donation of $10 to help with costs.
“Club members who have paid their 2021 dues will not only by able to watch,” according to information in a press release, “but also to appear on camera and submit questions.”
