On January 14th, Darryl Stolper, beloved husband of 55 years, father, and grandfather, passed from a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease at the age of 80. Raised in Pacific Palisades, he was a fixture of the community. Some knew him as Mr. Stolper, the history teacher at Paul Revere while others recognized him as the blues record collector who would frequent garage sales on weekends in his “I Buy Old Records” t-shirt.
Darryl was an outdoorsman through and through. He was an avid surfer, which led him to many acting roles in the popular surf films of the 60s. On waveless weekends, you would find him combing the local hiking trails searching for reptiles to catch, including snakes, newts and lizards. His love of reptiles resulted in one of the worst rattlesnake bites in California history, leaving a scar the length of his arm, but a good story to share with his students.
As a husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Darryl was known for his kindness, patience and witty sense of humor. He will forever be loved and missed by his wife Lynda, and their children, Tammi, Kevin, and Sean, as well as their grandchildren Remi, Kyle, and Finn, his brother Jeff, and his best friends Franklin and Craig. To know him was to love him.
