Now colorists (and cousins) Michael Canale and Jeffrey Martinez have teamed up to bring their A-list skills to Pacific Palisades with the early April 2015 opening of Canale-Martinez Salon in the Village.
“Over the last five years, my clients from the Westside have told me that there was a need for a high-end salon on the other side of the 405. Pacific Palisades seemed like the perfect fit with its cool Village vibe, and I knew teaming with Michael to create this salon would cater to a lot of our existing clients and provide great opportunities to work with new ones,” Martinez said.
Canale-Martinez Salon provides a variety of hairstyling services, including highlights, cuts, blowouts and Brazilian straightening for women, men and children.
Along with its core group of talented stylists, the salon has a few chairs reserved for “Guest Star Stylists” like Enzo Angileri, a stylist whose roster of clients includes Palisadian stars Reese Witherspoon, Rita Wilson, Tom Hanks, Julia Louis Dreyfus, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Goldie Hawn.
With more than 30 years of experience in the industry, Canale specializes in natural-looking highlights – and is one of Hollywood’s most talented and sought-after colorists because of it.
His talent and passion, mixed with his friendly demeanor and warm smile, have also made him the go-to colorist for politicians, dignitaries, royalty and fashion elite from around the world.
“I’m hard on myself to be good at it,” Canale told the Palisadian-Post during an interview in the new salon, which is decorated with imported Italian furniture and high-fashion photography.
Canale and Martinez specialize in perfecting natural-looking color. Canale’s expertise extends to correctional color and he is often sought out to fix hair color mishaps.
“After all these years, I still like doing it. I like to stay hands-on,” said Canale, who splits his time between six satellite salons, including locations in New York City and Washington DC.
Canale Salon in Beverly Hills was recently named Top Salon by Elle Magazine.
Martinez, who has trained under and traveled with Canale, has been in the hair industry for 20 years. Along with styling and coloring hair, the London-trained industry professional also runs the business aspect of the salon, Canale told the Post.
“He’s my favorite cousin. He’s like my little brother,” Canale said of Martinez, who is the co-owner of Jeffrey-Kara Salon in West Hollywood.
The public is invited to attend Canale-Martinez Salon’s opening party on Thursday, May 21 from 5-9 p.m. to see the salon first-hand, meet the stylists and staff who make it all happen and to enjoy music, wine and food trucks.
The salon is located at 970 Monument St., Suite 103. To book your appointment, call 310-273-8080.
