
There was standing-room only as students at Canyon Elementary School tuned their guitars, warmed up their voices and stretched their muscles before the Second Annual Canyon Elementary School Talent Show on Friday, Feb. 27 where emotions ran high and bravery ran even higher.

āIām used to performing so it was fun for me,ā said second-grader Quinn De Souza who performed Part of Your World from The Little Mermaid with co-star Julia Stein. The two took to the stage in full mermaid attireāfins and all.
āIt was my first time in the talent show and Iām going to do it next year. I liked the dress rehearsals and seeing other peopleās performances,ā De Souza told the Palisadian-Post.
Masters of Ceremonies Hudson Scheel and Abby Waisler entertained the audience between the displays of talent. Students performed numbers on piano, drums and acoustic and electric guitar in addition to singing songs, dancing and even making the audience laugh with some stand-up comedy.

Jacob Blumenthal showed off his basketball skills by dribbling expertly between the cones. Maddy and Simone Neuberg donned cowboy boots and bandanas for an a cappella version of The Gambler before second-grader Chloe Briere treated the crowd to an original woodwind number called Calm and Peaceful.
Sadie Lionelli gave a colorful show with rainbow ribbons and a matching dress to the tune of Shine Like Rainbows from My Little Pony before fearless kindergartener Dante Blend got the crowd moving to I Love It.
Brave Sunny Lehrhoff sang a solo of If I Only Had a Brain. Fifth-graders Will Clark, Malcolm Hobert, Charlie Moore and Diego Sosa made everyone laugh with eight jokes in two minutes.

As with every show, much of the hard work goes on behind the scenes as stage crew members Hutch Beardmore, Althea Hill, Malcolm Hobert, Ally Preminger and Grace Preminger demonstrated with a performance of I Wanna Be a Producer.
Back-to-back shows went off without a hitch and one thing is for certainātalent scouts had better take note of Canyon Elementary Schoolās gifted group of performers.
