By SHEILA SHAVER Special to the Palisadian-Post Everyone in a record crowd at the Pacific Palisades Woman’s Club facility seemed to thoroughly enjoy the 2012 ‘Coming Up Roses’ fashion show luncheon on March 13. After the nearly 100 attendees enjoyed a meal catered by Mary Gilmer, models paraded between the tables wearing apparel from two Palisades shops, BOCA (on Swarthmore) and Vivian’s Boutique (on Via de la Paz). Serving as fashion show announcer, Vivian Foster introduced the models, who included both Woman’s Club and Junior Women’s Club members among others, representing ages from 24 to 92. She described the ensembles as the models appeared on the stage, noting that the array of clothes ranged from backyard casual to black-tie formal and displayed elegance in classic design to the elegance of contemporary couture. As the first course of the luncheon was being served, Woman’s Club President Trish Bowe welcomed everyone and introduced the event’s co-chairs, Alexia Csato and Sheila Shaler. They in turn thanked the club members who had worked many hours to produce the event, and expressed the club’s gratitude to local businesses and individuals for the merchandise, gift certificates and monetary donations they so willingly contributed for the raffle and silent auction. The day’s proceeds will support the philanthropies of the Woman’s Club, which each year makes grants to organizations and schools in the Palisades community. Thanks to our generous contributors,, this year’s ‘Coming Up Roses’ event was a tremendous success and a delightful afternoon of fun!
