Palisadian Joe Cohen, who served as president of MSG Network (1979-85), co-founded the USA Network, Sports Channel L.A. and Sports Time Ohio, was chairman of the Los Angeles Kings (1993-95) and today is president of sports at The Switch, will be inducted into the Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame on December 13 at the New York Hilton Hotel.
In April, Cohen received the Sports Business Journal’s Champions Award at the CAA World Congress of Sports in Los Angeles. He is a pioneer across a spectrum of areas in the sports industry: television, radio, arena development and franchise operation.
Cohen and his wife Rita moved to Pacific Palisades in 2005. They have four daughters: Aren, Marianne, Johanna and Gabriella.
Born and raised in New York, he earned his bachelor of science degree in economics at Penn in 1968 and earned an MBA at Penn’s Wharton School two years later. He is an avid collector of sports memorabilia, much of which is on display at his home in the Alphabet Streets overlooking Temescal Canyon.
