Attending the Pacific Palisades Civic League meetings always provides an educational element whether it’s about the specifics of design, negotiation and discourse between neighbors or the process of revising designs. Measurement, height restrictions and set backs are ripe for discussion. Within this, there’s a balance between aesthetics, personal taste and adherence to city guidelines.
At the Oct. 24 meeting of the Pacific Palisades Civic League, the agenda was limited to the resubmission of plans for 778 Wildomar St. and landscape plans for two other properties.
PPCL approved the plans for 778 Wildomar St. contingent upon resubmission of landscape plans. One neighbor did attend the meeting and raised concerns about the size of the house, parking, possible noise from the compressor on the roof and the proposed basement. Some of these concerns had been addressed with the revised set of plans that were submitted. Issues around parking and grading of soil with the basement are outside the scope of the Civic League.
At the end of the meeting, the committee discussed the possibility of creating guidelines for landscaping. All plans submitted to PPCL are evaluated for landscape design. The guidelines could potentially include information on size, type and placement of trees.
