Chamber Music Palisades will present the Pacific Trio, joined by Susan Greenberg, flutist formerly with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra and artistic director of the Chamber, on Wednesday, March 1, at 8 p.m.
The Pacific Trio—made up of violinist Roger Wilkie, cellist John Walz and pianist Edith Orloff—was founded in 1979 in Los Angeles and has had over 1,000 concerts across the United States, Canada and Europe.
“Greenberg has said these musicians are the best of the best,” according to a press release. “Edith Orloff, pianist extraordinaire, is acclaimed as a recitalist, chamber musician and concerto soloist whose music-making is praised at home and abroad for interpretive vitality and perceptive musicianship. John Walz, principal cellist of Los Angeles Opera, is a celebrated soloist and chamber music artist, known for his dazzling virtuosity and elegant musicianship. Roger Wilkie is the concertmaster of the Long Beach Symphony and appeared as a soloist in many concertos … He is also a concertmaster for John Williams and can be heard in many of his movies.”
The trio concert will also feature the Haydn London Trio for flute, violin and cello; Kuhlau Trio for flute, cello and piano; Martinu Trio for flute, violin and piano; and Brahms Trio for violin, cello and piano, according to the release. KUSC host and longtime CMP associate Alan Chapman will be in attendance, providing in-person notes during the program
Chamber Music Palisades’ 26th season kicked off in September 2022. The final concert of the season will take place on April 19, featuring a program with a piano duo for four hands.
Tickets will be available for $35 online or at the door at St. Matthew’s Parish, located at 1031 Bienveneda Avenue. Full-time students will be admitted free of charge with an ID.
Guests are asked to wear masks.
“We look forward to seeing you on March 1,” Chamber Music Palisades shared.
