For its final show, CMP will present four-hand piano works, a world premiere by an Emmy nominee and two sextets for woodwind quintet and piano, featuring players from the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Los Angeles Opera and Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra.
To kick off the show, Kevin Fitz-Gerald will take to the piano, CMP Artistic Director Susan Greenberg to the flute, Jonathan Davis to the oboe, Sergio Coelho to the clarinet, Judith Farmer to the bassoon and Amy Jo Rhine to the horn, for the Sextet for Piano and Woodwind Quintet by Ludwig Thuille.
The opening act will be followed by two pieces for piano four hands, a sonata by Francis Poulenc and Slavonic Dances by Antonin Dvorak, performed by Bernadene Blaha and Kevin Fitz-Gerald, a husband and wife duo who have appeared at festivals and concert venues across the world. They are also professors on the keyboard faculty at the USC Thornton School of Music.
Emmy-nominated, award-winning composer and artist known for her films, television and theater, Kathyrn Bostic will then present the world premiere of her composition “Good Morning Kayla Four,” featuring Greenberg, Coelho and Blaha. Bostic will also offer a commentary on her new work.
The concert will close with the Sextet for Piano and Wind Quintet by Poulenc.
