Responding to a call from Pacific Palisades residents, Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officers found an older white gentleman lifeless on the edge of the Castellammare bluffs overlooking the ocean.
Partly obscured by bushes, a gun lay by the man’s side and he could be seen wearing jeans and a green T-shirt.
Residents in the area called the LAPD at 11:34 a.m. reporting they heard a gunshot hours earlier and told LAPD they believed they had spotted a dead body.
At the scene, LAPD Sergeant Rodney Carter told the Palisadian-Post the cause of death was a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head and no foul play was evident.
LAPD would not release the name of the deceased.
