
Rookie outfielder Brennan Boesch, who played in the Palisades Pony Baseball Association growing up and went had a stellar prep career at Harvard-Westlake High, is enjoying a remarkable season at the plate for the Detroit Tigers. Through Monday’s game at Minnesota, Boesch had racked up 68 hits, 45 RBI and 12 home runs in 54 games with a .335 batting average and a .616 slugging percentage. Boesch’s first major league homer was a grand slam on April 30 off of the Angels’ Joel Pineiro. He was named American League Rookie of the Month in May. As a junior at UC Berkeley in 2006, Boesch hit .313 with 35 runs, 11 doubles, 10 homers and 42 RBI in 54 games, earning Honorable Mention All-Pac 10 honors.
