After a healthy response from the community, the Pali Blues Soccer Club, back-to-back national champions of the USL W-League, and the Palisadian-Post have chosen three finalists for the name of the Blues’ mascot. The finalists are: “GIGI THE GAZELLE” from Pacific Palisades resident Joannie Burstein Besser, “LIGHTNING THE BLUE DRAGON” from Pali Blues summer camper Emily Citron and “POLLY THE PORPOISE” from Post staff writer Michael Aushenker. Check the Palisadian-Post over the next several weeks for the latest developments in the Blues’ search for a new mascot, including your chance to design the mascot’s costume! In other news… next Sunday, February 28, the Pali Blues, along with Hollywood United of the local men’s Professional Development League, will be hosting free soccer clinics for both girls and boys from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Palisades High’s Stadium by the Sea to celebrate their upcoming 2010 seasons. Co-hosted by Mountain Meadow Ranch Summer Camp, the clinics will feature Blues and Hollywood staff and players offering sessions on dribbling skills, shooting for power and placement and beginner sessions for first time players. The clinics will also include popular goalkeeper training sessions from Pali Blues General Manager Jason Lemire.
