A “Moneyball” game at Ben Howland’s Basketball Camp on Monday at Pali High.
The ninth annual Ben Howland Youth Basketball Camp tipped off Monday morning at Palisades High.
Approximately 100 kids are participating in the week-long camp run by former UCLA head coach Ben Howland, who spoke to his latest students before they were divided into groups to develop their passing, dribbling and ball-handling skills, play 3-0n-3 and 5-on-5 games and try to win at “Moneyball,” a fun shooting drill in which teams go head-to-head trying to become the first to make five baskets.
Helping out at this year’s camp are former PaliHi head coach James Paleno and several of his former players along with Pali High girls basketball coach Torino Johnson. The camp runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m through Friday.
Players are divided into divisions by age group:
SEC (1st & 2nd grade)
PAC-12 (3rd & 4th grade)
NBA (5th, 6th & 7th grade)
