Do you usually stuff your face with calories on Thanksgiving Day? This year, you can start Thanksgiving off on the right foot by burning some calories (before eating them) at the 2nd Annual Banc of California Turkey Trot, Pacific Palisades 2014 5K. The Palisadian-Post is proud to be the media sponsor for this year’s race.
“Last year, we targeted 200 runners and got around 1,000. We’re expecting 1,500 this year,” said race coordinator David O’Connell.
The family-friendly 5K race will kick off at 8 a.m. at Palisades Charter High School’s Stadium by the Sea, with runners winding through the El Medio Bluffs neighborhood before finishing back at the football field.
Some streets will be closed from 6:30 a.m.-10 a.m., but O’Connell wants to assure residents that race organizers are doing everything possible to minimize any inconvenience due to street closures.

O’Connell said the event is a great fit for our community because “Pacific Palisades is such a healthy, fitness-minded community.”
Pre-race registration is $35 for adults and $25 for kids. It increases to $40 for adults the day of the race. Awards and prizes will be given. Part of each participant’s registration fee goes to Hearts With Hope and West LA Food Bank. Runners are encouraged to bring canned or boxed foot items for donation.
