AYSO Pali Strikers Win at Riverside

The AYSO Region 69 U10 Girls Extra team, the FC Pali Strikers, won the Riverside Locomotion Tournament on February 18.   Overall, 45 teams participated in three U10 girls divisions. The Strikers, who outscored opponents 16-6, played in the premier Super Chief Flight and made it through the pool rounds undefeated before winning the finals on Presidents Day.   Coached by Fred Kornfeind and Doug Masi, the offense was led by Samantha Morris, Maggie Kornfeind, Carly Myers, Denali Masi, Ari Brander and Sophie Larbalestier, while the defense was led by Natalie Phillips, Anna Owens, Mia Emerson and Isabella Loef.   Larbalestier, Phillips and Kornfeind rotated at goalie.   The Strikers defeated Palos Verdes, 4-2, in the semifinals and Camarillo, 2-1, in the finals.   The Strikers will represent AYSO Area P in the sectional championships in Riverside on March 2 and 3.
