INNOCENT OKOH
Seven days after rushing for 101 yards and both of his team’s touchdowns in a 42-14 home loss to Wisconsin-Stout, Innocent gained 43 yards in 15 carries, caught two passes for 30 yards and returned two kickoffs for 47 yards for the Presentation College football team in last Saturday’s 55-14 nonconference defeat at Concordia-Moorehead in Minnesota. A 5-7, 180-pound senior for the Saints, he became the first Palisades High player to win the City Section rushing title as a senior in 2016 when he amassed a school single-season record 1,965 yards and 19 touchdowns in 12 games (averaging 8.0 yards per carry) while being named Western League Player of the Year and winning the Joe Spector Award as the team’s Most Valuable Player. In 2014, Innocent was moved up to varsity halfway through his sophomore season after running for 14 touchdowns in five JV games. As a junior in 2015 Innocent led the Dolphins with 710 yards rushing and 280 receiving. To nominate your favorite Palisadian for Athlete of the Week, email sports@palipost.com.
